Set in the beautiful county of Westchester, New York, and bounded between the Hudson River to the west and the Long Island Sound to the East, the small hamlet of Katonah and the quaint town of Lewisboro both fall within the New York Metropolitan Area and have access to stunning natural scenery.

Though unincorporated, Katonah is a census-designated place located in the town of Bedford, with a population of just over 1,600. The hamlet was named after the American Indian from whom the land was purchased and includes two National Historic Landmarks. Lewisboro —originally known as Salem, then South Salem—was named after a prominent financier at the time who established a fund for the town.

Both communities consist of mostly residential areas surrounded by gently sloping hills and incredible landscapes. With seven lakes in the town of Lewisboro alone, you’ll find plenty of lakefront properties to choose from, often featuring sweeping Colonial architecture and large acreages. Stately mansions tucked into forested groves, contemporary single-family homes, elegant and cozy brick houses—all of this and more are available in these areas’ charismatic residential neighborhoods.

Located in Katonah, the John Jay Homestead—the historic grounds and estate of beloved Founding Father John Jay, as well as five subsequent generations—delights visitors with its abundant gardens, 62 acres for walking, skiing, picnicking, its famous Farm Market, and its history.

Lewisboro lays claim to the stunning Onatru Farm Park and Preserve, a multi-functional historic site and preserve that, in addition to recreational facilities such as baseball fields and tennis courts, also has beautiful walking paths and a mountain laurel grove. For more outdoor enjoyment, Ward Pound Ridge Reservation is nestled between Katonah and Lewisboro. This 4,315-acre expanse is home to gorgeous trails and opportunities for horseback riding, cross-country skiing, camping, and more.

Music enthusiasts can relish the sublime atmosphere of the Caramoor Center for Music. This center not only cultivates mentorships for young musicians and music-based educational programs for children, but it also produces inspiring musical concerts, houses lush gardens, and is the perfect setting to create wonderful memories.
